Lou’s News #21 – June 2024 – Audiobook Release
Hi All,
To the point: Avalanche Dreams audiobook is released. If you give it a listen I think you’ll agree: it is a wild ride.
Months ago, we began auditioning narrators. One guy stood out, Chris Abell. He had the cadence and tone, was easy to work with, and aced tricky passages such as switching between points of view (my wife Lisa’s first person voice, as well as a section that’s written in the third person).
On the technical side we worked within the ACX production system (Audible) with zero glitches. Probably the biggest challenge was simply the time it takes to review and approve audio content, as opposed to reading the printed word. Other than that, quite a few pronunciations required adjustment, and the visible structure of the book (table of contents, etc.) needed attention.
If you audio sample via Amazon, you can listen to some of the front matter, as well as the prelude — my wife Lisa and I enjoying life on a glacier. If you’re in Audible, the sample instead plays a snip from farther inside the book.
Here’s the link via Amazon and here’s the Audible.
Important — Book Prices
Please be aware that the Amazon “hard cover” option is a case-laminate binding, meaning the jacket is fixed to the front and back boards. We like this style of binding, but don’t mistake it for our beautiful jacketed hard-cover version. Also, unless you’re buying pre-signed collector versions of the book, be sure you pay no more than our list prices.
— Here’s the U.S. prices as of summer 2024 —
Ebook: $9.99
Paperback soft cover: $17.95
Hard-cover case laminate: $24.95
Hard-cover jacketed: $28.99
(Canada, U.K. and EU prices vary, of course).
